Course Description

The Computer Basics course is designed to provide learners with foundational knowledge and practical skills in computer usage. This course introduces students to the fundamental concepts of computer systems, including hardware components, software applications, and essential digital tools used in everyday personal, academic, and professional environments.

Students will gain an understanding of computer hardware components such as the system unit, processor, memory, storage devices, input and output devices, and peripheral equipment. The course also covers computer software, including operating systems and application software, helping learners understand how software interacts with hardware to perform various tasks.

A major focus of the course is hands-on training in Microsoft Office application packages, including:

• Microsoft Word – Creating, formatting, and editing professional documents.
• Microsoft Excel – Performing calculations, organizing data, and creating charts.
• Microsoft PowerPoint – Designing and delivering effective presentations.
• Microsoft Publisher – Creating brochures, flyers, and other publications.
• Microsoft Access – Introduction to database creation and basic data management.

In addition, the course introduces students to Internet and Email usage, covering topics such as web browsing, online research, search engines, internet safety, email creation and management, sending and receiving messages, attachments, and basic online communication etiquette.
